Landing your first client is an exciting milestone for a new business. Step one in launching any business is finding that first customer and I’m sure all business owners will agree that’s a lot easier said than done, especially when you want the client list to grow.

Being a business owner in this century sure has its perks. With the evolution of technology came the evolution of marketing. In the current era, there are many different types of marketing to choose from and cater to diverse audiences. Advertising, direct marketing, telemarketing and it is without a doubt that the most common and highly utilised marketing strategy is digital marketing.

At Jacob’s Artography, we toggle between search engine optimization marketing (SEO), social media marketing and content marketing, where we feature our wedding blogs in our website. While these seem to do their work, the one thing that has been a constant since the time we began is word-of-mouth, which is basically client referral.

It is not uncommon for most people to reach out to the people they trust most when it comes to problem solving or decision making. Whether they are looking for a new car, housing agent, or wedding vendors, after doing their own research, people generally reach out to the people they trust – family, friends, relatives, or people you know who will guide you without bias. These people, whose opinions are highly valued, act as promoters of the business they recommend. This makes the impact and importance of customer referrals undeniable and because it comes with a lot of trust, it is an invaluable asset to any business.

Throughout the past seven years, I have had the pleasure of having clients who were once guests at the weddings I was engaged for. It is always nice to hear from potential clients that they decided to engage Jacob’s Artography for their future event(s) after attending a relative or friend’s wedding. Also, it goes without saying that when you’ve established a good rapport with your clients, they will consider engaging you for their other events in future. I have had the honour of capturing clients’ wedding, baby shower and their family portrait. Almost like a full circle!

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude to clients, past and present, who have played their part in sharing and recommending Jacob’s Artography to their friends and family. Social media’s sponsored posts have nothing on your word-of-mouth referral!

Cheers!
