Hindu weddings are full of celebrations. They are vibrant, colourful, and loud. The 3-day-long weddings are intricately planned and consist of many small festivities, which include rituals that are rich in culture, tradition, and plenty of photo opportunities. It was very humbling when Jacob’s Artography was engaged by Aaru and Sangari, to play a huge part of capturing their matrimonial events and turning them into cherished memories.

Back in October 2018, Aaru and Sangari enquired about Jacob’s Artography services. They decided to engage me for their Wedding Engagement as they liked my approach to photography. After one successful event and a good rapport between myself and the couple, Jacob’s Artography became their only choice for their Pre-wedding photo shoot, Bangle ceremony, and ROM-cum-Traditional Hindu wedding.

As a National Monument and a major tourist attraction, Sri Mariamman Temple is a temple known by many. Regardless of our race or religion, most of us would have at least attended one or more weddings held in this temple. Aaru and Sangari’s traditional wedding graced the wedding hall, and because of the friendship that we have built over the year, I felt like I was attending a friend’s wedding.

Based on my experience, the wedding day is definitely a day full of roller-coaster emotions. It starts out happy, anxious, and then a rush of adrenaline. Towards the end, it gets bittersweet and emotional. This applies not only to the bride and groom, but to their parents as well.

As the rituals were being completed, emotions were running high. Tears were being wiped and heartfelt hugs were shared. It was even more emotional when a parent is physically no longer around to be part of their biggest day. As a wedding photographer, I was humbled to be able to witness a loving bond between the couples and their parents. In that process, I captured their happiness, sadness, laughter, and tears. It was indeed an emotional day.
